Thanks for visiting, Stu Levene's photo gallery. This page is intended to tell you a few
things about the author and a little more about this website.

About Me

Born in Altrincham, Cheshire, UK in 1969 and raised in Cheadle, Cheshire - an urbanised
village about eight miles south of Manchester - I have since drifted southwards to a
leafy north London district known as Winchmore Hill. The reason for this migration was
to develop my career in Land Surveying after graduating from the University of East
London in 1993. After honing my skills with various companies in the London area, I
finally took the plunge and started up on my own in 2006.

About My Photography

My first camera was a Halina compact which I received as a Christmas present in about 1982 and was principally used
to augment my interest in railways, although my photography has never been limited just to trains. I found the restrictions
of the compact camera too frustrating and succeeded in my wish to acquire an SLR camera for my eighteenth birthday
in 1987. The resultant Olympus OM-10 was to stay with me for many years until I upgraded to a Nikon F65 in 2001, complete
with 28-80 and 70-300mm lenses. This camera never saw a great deal of use and my interest in photography didn't really
take off until I entered the digital era.

This watershed occurred in October 2004 when I bought a Nikon D70 kit for about 870 (it's amazing how new technology
comes down in price as soon as you buy something!). I have since expanded my collection with a Nikon D80, 18-200 and
70-400 VR lenses and a Sigma 17-70 macro lens, and hope to get hold of a D300 body sometime soon.

About My Other Interests

The more astute of you will have noticed that railways are my most-favoured photography subject and there was a time
when I focussed on little else. My increased use of cameras has expanded my photographic interests a great deal - also
helped by joining a photographic society and finding a couple of shooting partners! Most of my other interests are
documented in this website and I also follow several sports (Cricket, Tennis, Rugby, Athletics, Golf, Cycling and Snooker),
enjoy travelling, fitness and listening to Progressive Rock (bands include: Jadis, IQ, Arena, Rush, Camel, Yes, Steve Hackett,
Mike Oldfield, Marillion, Pink Floyd, Queen, ELO, ELP, Genesis, Spock's Beard, Porcupine Tree, Riverside and The Reasoning.

About This Website has been in a gestation period stretching back to March 2008 although I have been posting my photos on
other sites since 2004. The personal website gives a perfect opportunity to show what you want, when you want, how you
want. I admit the composition of this site is a little un-sophisticated and may not look properly-aligned in some browsers. In
the fullness of time - when I have really learnt how to do websites - I will redesign it, so please bear with me until then. In
any case the site is designed as a vehicle for my photography, not my web design skills!

If you see a photo you would like to buy, make a note of its number (which appears in the bottom left-hand corner of each
photo page) and contact me where we can make arrangements for payment and shipping. All photos will be printed on
glossy photo paper at 255 x 170 mm size (approx. 10" x 7"). When I get around to it I will set-up a purchase portal.

Special thanks go to Jonathan & Brigitt Mears, Harry Tsappas and Pany Chacholiades for help in building this website.

In the meantime...enjoy!
